By replacing single storey chalets with factory manufactured 2-storey modules, a significant increase in revenue was achieved on the same footprint along with significant programme benefits and faster installation times enabling earlier occupation than with conventional build.
Undertaken for Warner Leisure Hotels Ltd, owners and operators of hotels and villages in some of the most picturesque locations across the UK, thirty six modules have been designed, manufactured and installed by Willerby on two phases at Corton Coastal Village on the Norfolk coast.
Phase 1 of the project saw Willerby Innovations tasked with delivering stunning, high quality fully fitted out accommodation, able to withstand the rigours of coastal weather and designed, manufactured and installed to a tight budget and schedule.
The second phase at the resort was for replacement accommodation for ageing single storey chalets, to be installed on the same footprint. By replacing the single storey chalets with factory manufactured 2-storey modules, the client was able to significantly increase revenue.
Factory manufacture of the modules offered significant programme benefits and faster installation times, the units were available and ready for occupation faster than conventional build bringing about an earlier occupancy rate.
Designed in the style of traditional beach huts with factory applied timber cladding to the external elevations, the same exacting standards of finish and detail is demonstrated on the interiors. Contemporary bathrooms, luxury bedrooms and lounges echoing the beach hut style, fully fitted in WIs dedicated manufacturing facilities with plug and play electrics and utilities, flat screen TVs, Bose sound systems and high quality furniture and joinery has helped ensure a high repeat booking rate by customers.
Whilst off-site factory manufacture offers significant benefits to quality and programme, the programme benefits can be compromised if the roofing requires traditional on-site manufacture. To overcome this Willerby Innovations has developed a unique approach to modular construction resulting in even the most complex roofing configurations being undertaken in the factory.
The units were manufactured and delivered sequentially ‘just in time’ for installation to site with each module taking around 90 hours to install. In total the second phase of 18 x two storey units were factory manufactured, fully fitted, delivered and installed in less than 11 weeks.
